Welcome To

Hooked Up 2 Charters

Our Mission

Our mission is to fill the boat with fish, but most importantly to make sure you have an unforgettable experience on the Hooked Up 2!!!

Crew

Captain Austin Plumb

Captain David Baily also known as “Beetle”

Between the two of us there is more than 45 years of experience in fishing on the Chesapeake bay and Atlantic ocean!!!!

Chesapeake Bay

While in the Chesapeake bay and its tributaries we will catch a variety of species we normally start with Striped Bass or Rockfish then when the water gets warmer will will start to have access to the phenomenal bottom fishing that includes Norfolk Spot and my personal favorite White Perch. As summer goes on we will get into the bluefish and mackerel. then the Cobia show up and after the water starts getting cold again its back to the Rock Fishing. There is a reason its called ROCKTOBER!!!!

Islamorada

While in Islamorada we target a vary wide array of pelagic species most of which we catch on live bait and light tackle. You never know what you will catch in these waters, but for the most part we are catching Sailfish on 12 pound test and yes you read that right 12 pound test!!! we also love to target the Blackfin and Wahoo because they are by far our favorite to slice up raw and chow down on. There is no shortage of live bait down here and the possibilities are endless for Sailfish, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowtail Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Swordfish, Kingfish, African Pompano, Permit, Queen Snapper, Snowy Grouper and many More!!!

Seasons

Chesapeake Bay

Trophy Rockfish May 1st to May 15th 35 inch limit “BIG ONES”

Mid may to July Rockfish need to be 19 inches we usually target these fish first and if we have a good day well will go try to catch Norfolk Spot, White Perch, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel or Bluefish.

Rockfish is closed the second half of July and we will be targeting Norfolk Spot, White Perch, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish.

August 1st we are back to targeting Rockfish and if we have a good day well will go try to catch Norfolk Spot, White Perch, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel or Bluefish.

The last week of August we head to Solomons Island MD and target mostly Cobia and Red Drum, THESE FISH ARE HUGE!!!!

Cobia Closes September 15 and we head back up the bay to Catch Rockfish and if we have a good day well will go try to catch Norfolk Spot, White Perch, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackerel or Bluefish.

As summer comes to an end we start to loose our warm water here in the Chesapeake Bay and this means we will start to lose all of our warm water species but in my opinion this is when you catch the BEST Rockfish of the year until the season closes December 10th

ISLAMORADA

January we are headed down to the Keys Islamorada to be exact. While in Islamorada there really is no season or water tempeture that confines us. From January to april we are fishing for pelagic fish Like Sailfish, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowtail Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Swordfish, Kingfish, African Pompano, Permit, Queen Snapper, Snowy Grouper and many More!!!

Sail fish are mainly targeted with what we call kite fishing and we really do use a kite!!! all other fish are caught on the bottom with live bait or slow trolling live bait with the exception of swordfish which we drop a bait 2000 feet to the bottom with a large rod and reel!!! Then Wahoo which when we target these beautiful creatures we troll dead skirted ballyhoo.

Memories from our previous fishing trips!!!
